Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Azure Legal PLLC ("we", "us") is a professional limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of New York. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website. It does not cover information governed by an active attorney-client engagement, which is subject to professional confidentiality obligations and the terms of the relevant engagement letter.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to respond to inquiries and operate the site:

• Information you give us: your name, email address, organisation, and anything you choose to include when you contact us, request an introductory call, or book time through our scheduling tool.
• How you found us: when you send our booking form, it includes the page on this site you came from, or the name of the website that linked you here (not the full address), and any campaign label in the link you followed. If you allowed analytics in our cookie notice, it also includes the pages of this site you read during that visit. Until you send the form, this stays in your browser for that tab only.
• Technical information: IP address, browser type, device type, and pages viewed, collected automatically through standard server logs.
• Local storage: where the site stores preferences (such as your light/dark theme choice) in your browser, that data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

Please do not send confidential case details through this site before an engagement letter is in place.

3. How we use it

We use personal information to respond to your inquiry, run conflicts checks before accepting a matter, schedule introductory calls, understand which of our articles and channels lead people to contact us, provide and improve the site, and comply with our legal and professional obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Legal bases

Where data protection law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on: your consent, where you have given it; the necessity of processing to take steps at your request before entering an engagement; our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site; and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Sharing

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the site and our practice, under contracts that restrict their use of it: our hosting provider, which stores inquiries and booking requests made through this site; our business email, calendar and document storage provider; and Google reCAPTCHA, which checks our forms for spam. When you book an introductory call, your name, email address and chosen time are added to our business calendar so that we can send you a calendar invitation.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or professional regulator.

6. Retention

Inquiries and call bookings made through this site are kept for two years after our last contact about them. After that, the details you sent us are deleted and we keep only a short conflicts record (your name, email, organisation, the general topic and the dates), which our professional rules require us to keep so that we can check for conflicts of interest. How you found us is kept with your inquiry and deleted with its other details. Booking records are deleted two years after the call. Our backups of this data are kept for 30 days, so deleted information leaves them within 30 days.

Client matter files are retained in line with our professional obligations and applicable record-keeping rules. Server logs are retained for a short period for security and diagnostics.

7. Security

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and unencrypted email in particular should not be treated as a confidential channel.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, request a portable copy, opt out of certain sharing, or withdraw consent you previously gave. Exercising these rights will not result in discriminatory treatment.

Some rights are limited where information is subject to legal professional privilege or a mandatory retention obligation. To make a request, email hello@azurelegal.xyz.

9. Cookies and analytics

This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Analytics runs only if you allow it. Otherwise it uses only the following:

• Preferences in your browser: your light/dark theme, your page view, which Daily Founder Laws you have read, and your cookie choices. These are kept in your browser's local storage, are never sent to us, and can be cleared at any time in your browser settings.
• Your path through the site (analytics, only if you allow it): the page you arrived on, the website that sent you, any campaign label, and up to twelve pages you read, kept in your browser for that tab only. It is sent to us only if you send the booking form, and it is deleted if you withdraw consent.
• Google reCAPTCHA: on our contact, booking, and comment forms, to block spam and abuse. Google may set cookies and collect device and interaction data for this purpose, under Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
• Administrator sign-in: a strictly necessary session cookie, used only by our staff when signed in to the site's admin pages.

Google Analytics (only if you allow analytics): we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, see which pages are read and where visitors come from, and measure how many contact or booking requests are sent. It sets cookies beginning with _ga and sends Google your approximate location, device and browser, and pages viewed. We turn off Google signals and advertising features, never send names, email addresses, or anything you type into our forms, and keep the data for 14 months. Analytics and marketing tools are optional and load only after you allow them in our cookie notice. You can change your choice at any time through Privacy choices in the site footer; withdrawing consent removes the related cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of optional cookies unless you choose otherwise. Your choice is kept for twelve months, after which we ask again. Before adding any such tool we will list it here.

10. International transfers

We operate remotely across United States time zones, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under applicable data protection law, including GDPR where it applies.
